New sheepdog competition at Royal Welsh Show…

ioanThis year’s Royal Welsh Show has introduced a new sheepdog trialling competition for young handlers.

Held in the cattle ring on Tuesday, four handlers aged under 21 took part - two from North Wales and two from South Wales.

Corwen’s Arwyn Davies with Moel Floss put on a good display to win, with Ioan Jones and Glen (pictured at Saturday's Mynyddislwyn trial), from Carmarthenshire, in second place. Also competing were Elin Pyrs and Cerys Millichap.

Show organisers are hoping the competition will become an annual event and will prove popular with the crowds.

Welsh TV channel S4C’s Dai Jones – a well-known sheepdog trials competitor - was on the sidelines to film and present the new event.
